Located on the Sandy Bay Esplanade, this alterations and additions project focused on reconfiguring the existing ground floor kitchen and service areas into an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space that connects seamlessly to the newly designed outdoor areas. At the same time, our clients wanted to maintain the ocean views towards the front and achieve strong visual connections across the different rooms.

All alterations were contained within the existing footprint, with only the north-western corner rebuilt in lightweight construction. This move allowed for a new service door along the side setback and a continuous servery from the kitchen to the outdoor areas. The result is a home with multiple spaces for entertaining, where indoor and outdoor areas flow naturally and ocean views are maintained even from the rear garden.

The kitchen island is conceived around an existing structural wall and acts as a sculptural central element within the new living spaces. This project is being developed in partnership with Laura Wells from Pholio, who is leading the interior design.
